About Us
Why we started the ministry.
As Christians, we strive to make a difference—we allow Christ to make a difference in our individual lives through study and worship. With that, we aim to make a difference in the lives around us with the love of Christ. The next step is usually to reach out to those who are not around us through missions. Our church mission statement reflects that: “We exist to bring people higher in Christ through worship, deeper in faith through study, and wider in love through mission and service.”
To grow wider in love, we must sometimes take inventory of how we can love others. While Roger and I were taking such an inventory, we concluded that the church (and Elwood) needs to have a solid way to support families who are dealing with cancer. That brought us to start this ministry with the help of Our Journey of Hope.
Our Journey of Hope is a ministry of Cancer Treatment Centers of America. They developed a Bible-based ministry training program has been developed to equip God's people with the tools needed to bring hope to the millions who are living with cancer. We are delighted to use these tools!
